Benefits of the Drimee Sirocco Solarium
With winter fast approaching and the majority of the east cost and inland being subject to extra rain and trying riding conditions already this year, I have chosen to showcase our DriMee Solariums in a little more detail.
The DriMee Sirocco is one of the most user friendly and affordable solariums available and suits a variety of year-round uses. Whether you are looking for the therapeutic benefits of infra-red, or speeding up drying time in winter or cooling your horse down in summer, the DriMee Sirocco Solarium has you and your horse covered, literally!
When I hear the word solarium, I automatically think of warm glowing heat in the middle of winter to spark that enthusiasm to ride! But let’s take a look to see how the DriMee Sirocco Solarium works to benefit you.
With the DriMee solariums providing light therapy, also known as photo therapy, they use a combination of super luminous (visible) and infra-red (invisible) light to treat damaged skin as well as problems with muscles, tendons, bones and ligaments. The treatment works by stimulating the blood supply in a targeted area, providing oxygen and nutrients to the damaged tissue. It also stimulates the lymphatic system enabling waste products to be removed more quickly.
A 10-15 minute session before and after exercise is enough to activate and optimise the benefits.
Along side the therapeutic benefits, it was also designed for many uses, like;
– Speeding up drying time in the cooler months
– Cooling down a wet horse in the summertime
– Providing an excellent all year round environment for general grooming, plaiting, clipping, veterinary and farrier work, even keeping the flies away!
Product features
– 12 short wave halogen quartz infra-red 200w bulbs, providing therapeutic infra-red light via 900 nanometres. These are long lasting, providing approximately 5000 hrs of use. Replacement bulbs are easily purchased through our online store.
– 6 dual action fans, that draw in fresh air from above and pushes out downward around your horse. The fans can be used independently of the lamps. As the fans are dual action, and situated on a unique curve with the lamps, in turn combining the two together creates an excellent environment providing full coverage of infra-red and warmed air.
Control panel for the Sirocco is simple and easy to use.
- On/Off
- Timer – This 50 minute timer actives the use and automatically turns off.
- Fan on/off
- Dimmers, two dials to control the 12 infra-red lamps of the heat and brightness. The middle panel of lamps is on one dimmer and the other two outer panels of lamps are on another. These are to be applied in conjunction to the size of your horse.
Can also be fitted with a token operator box. Making it ideal for agistment and multi-use facilities. Low running cost of 50 cents per hour (on full power).
Installation of your DriMee Solarium
Installing at the optimum height is key for use on multi size equines. From the ground to the middle panel of lamps/fans, this need to be 2.5 metres. This is the general guide for horses at 16hh, therefore ensures the unit is 90 cm from the horses back.
This will need to be increased by 15cm every hand above, eg: hang at 2.65 metres for 17hh.
There is no need to lower for smaller size horses. This is where the use of the dimmers are needed and a larger (hotter and brighter) percentage is applied. Example; full power for a pony and 20% on a 17hh horse.
Your solarium will come assembled ready hang, plug and play in under 30 minutes.

– Dimensions of the Sirocco, 1.5m by 1.2 metres
– Light weight at only 34kg
– Comes equipped with hanging hardware of 4 chains and clips
– Power requirements – comes with 15amp 3 pin plug.
Although these solariums are made of high grade galvanised and stainless steel and therefore splash proof, we do NOT recommend the solariums to be installed in wash bays. Please consider these are electrical equipment.
